I got inspired to write this article after reading Simon Webb's excellent book,
"The Forgotten Slave Trade: The White European Slaves of Islam". Simon is a prolific author and runs a Youtbe Channel "History Debunked". In the video below he explains the Slave Trade before the British got involved. This is the story of the Barbary Pirates, from North Africa who raided Europe (as far North as Iceland) and took slaves back to Africa. This went on for centuries and their were over a million victims. This is not taught in schools. Probably because it completely debunks the central idea of C.R.T. (Critical Race Theory). And this, unfortunately, is taught in schools.
I agree it's easy to get disheartened. But some justice is better than no justice.
And I do believe that we will see some justice. I'm reminded of what happened at the Nuremberg trials. The trial of the "Killing Squads" (Einsatzgruppen) nrarly didn't happen. It was only due to the persistence of a young, 27 year old lawyer, Benjamin Ferencz, that these trials took place, Only a small percentage of the guilty were prosecuted. But the trial itself led to other people documenting this atrocity.
Otherwise it could easily have faded from history. I sincerely believe "small victoties" are important, and definitely better than no victories at all.
Nil Desperandum. The Ruling Class want us distracted and demoralised. I think John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) got it right: "Anger is an Energy".
Anger annihilates apathy and anxiety and helps you focus. We just need to be careful that anger doesn't turn into hate. In the film "The Godfather", Michael Corleone gives his nephew some shrewd advice: "Don't hate your enemies.
Hate damages your judgement". We need all our wits about us to fight back against our enemies.
Yes, thank you for this article. Like the book "White Gold" it refers to the harrowing white slave trade, which no doubt may include many more of this country's indigenous people in the future unless something is done.
There is a foreign illegal who has made a fortune here (I forget his name and can only guess how he made his fortune), who has been deported and come back, and boasts online showing his expensive cars and watches. That is obscene. The lack of interest by the powers that be of the appalling cruelty shown by the r*pe gangs to little girls and children generally, is obscene. It is not just condoning slavery, in many cases it is turning a blind eye to criminal sadism.
What kind of animals are our politicians? We condemn the perpetrators for their worse than bestial behaviour (how many animals are out-and-out sadists?), but our politicians are supposed to be civilised and to know better. They are obscene.
Thanks for those comments. I will definitely check out "White Gold", a book I've never heard of. The institutional cover up is almost as bad as the initial crimes. In fact, we now know that in some cases the police were not just allowing these crimes to happen, they were actively involved as perpetrators. The term "Cop Nights" entered the language.
"White Gold" is a historical non-fiction book by Giles Milton that tells the story of Thomas Pellow, a Cornish cabin boy who was captured and enslaved by Barbary corsairs in the 18th century. The book highlights the experiences of European slaves in North Africa, focusing on the brutal conditions they endured. It is still available to buy.
Many thanks. It was a pretty harrowing job researching this subject. I also re-watched the movie "Sound of Freedom". Hollywood tried to bury this movie. Fortunately due to a few "A" listers like Mel Gibson and Anthony Robbins the film got released, was widely seen and woke up a great number of people.
As we like to say here in the US, freedom is never free. Someone(s) has to fight and/or die for it - so thank our Armed Forces for standing in for the rest of us.
Or, this says it better than I ever could, "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
Then again, there is also Colonel Jessup's speech from A Few Good Men which points out what may be abhorrent to some, but is necessary to guard our freedoms:
"Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives!
You don't want the truth. Because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd prefer you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!"

I think you are right. If it doesn't fit the narrative, it gets buried.
This is an important article. Too many do not realize slavery still exists in the modern world.
THank you. It is truly shocking what is happening in so-called civilised, Western countries,
including our own. No doubt further revelations will come to light when the Rupert Lowe
inquiry gives us an update. Meanwhile the official statutory enquiry has so far achieved absolutely nothing.
It's unlikely victims will ever see justice

Thank you Steve for this encouraging comment. I will try to stay optimistic.

Thanks for sharing Steve’s writing. It was extremely interesting and a wake up call to fight against slavery that is still happening today.

A great quote. Here's another one, from Thomas Jefferson. This hasn't dated at all:
"Peace is that brief moment in time when people stand around reloading".
Actually here's one more from Mr Jefferson. An activist friend of mine used this
on one of his placards: "When Tyranny becomes law, Rebellion becomes duty".
Those are fantastic quotes!

Good bit of history 👍🇬🇧
